What the risk levels mean
- Safe
- At least 4 minutes to spare after walking. You can miss the planned service and likely catch the next one.
- Tight
- One to four minutes to spare. Workable on a good day, but any delay will probably break the link.
- Risky
- Less than one minute or already negative. Rework the route or add a bigger buffer.
Common mistakes
- Ignoring the walk between far apart platforms.
- Forgetting elevator wait times at big stations.
- Using the same plan for rush hour and midday.
- Assuming buses and trains always arrive on time.
- Leaving no buffer for a rainy day.
A note on the numbers
HopGap uses the walking speed you pick, the distance you enter, and the schedule you give. It does not know about escalator outages, roadworks, or today's crowd. Treat the output as a planning guide, not a promise. Add extra time for important trips. If your transfer is marked tight and you cannot afford to miss it, plan the earlier service instead.
